Recurrent Surge Oscillation (RSO) Testing evaluates turbo-generator rotors for interturn shorts under both static and dynamic conditions. In this method, a low-voltage, high-frequency surge wave (in the kHz range) is injected at each collector ring, and the resulting signals are compared. By analyzing the equipment’s response, this test helps identify insulation breakdowns, facilitating preventive maintenance and ensuring long-term reliability.
